Tour Plan

Your adventure begins with a pick-up at Arusha Airport after your flight from Zanzibar. Head straight to Tarangire National Park for an exhilarating game drive. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch surrounded by the park’s iconic baobab-dotted landscape. Keep watch for herds of elephants, lions stalking their prey, and leopards lounging in the trees. In the evening, retire to your lodge or campsite for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

After an early breakfast, set off for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Your journey takes you through the lush highlands and misty rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you may spot baboons, Cape buffalo, or elephants hidden among the trees. You’ll arrive at the Serengeti gates after approximately four hours, with options to break up the drive with optional activities if you wish. After a picnic lunch inside the park, embark on your first game drive across the endless plains teeming with wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay will be inside the Serengeti, either in a lodge or tented camp according to your chosen accommodation.

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive through the Serengeti, taking a different route to catch any animals you may have missed the day before from massive herds of wildebeest and zebras to giraffes, gazelles, and predators like cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and lions. Continue your journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll spend the night at a lodge or camp on the crater rim or in nearby Karatu town.

After an early breakfast, descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. From the crater rim, take in breathtaking panoramic views before you drive down to the crater floor home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including the endangered black rhino and large pods of hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the famous hippo pool. In the afternoon, drive back to Arusha in time for your flight back to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, your driver will meet you at Zanzibar Airport and transfer you back to your hotel.

When Is the Best Time to Visit the Serengeti?

The Serengeti is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on what you want to experience.

June to October (Dry Season)
This is the most popular time to visit. Wildlife is easier to spot as animals gather around water sources, and the weather is dry and pleasant. It’s an excellent period for classic game viewing and predator action.

July to September – Great Migration River Crossings
This is the peak season to witness the dramatic wildebeest river crossings in the northern Serengeti. It’s one of Africa’s most iconic safari experiences.

January to March – Calving Season
Located mainly in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu area, this period is perfect for seeing thousands of wildebeest calves being born. Predator sightings are very common during this time.

November to May (Green Season)
The landscape is lush and beautiful, birdlife is at its best, and there are fewer tourists. Short rains usually fall in November and December, while April and May can be wetter.

In summary:
The best month depends on your interests—July to September for the Great Migration, January to March for calving season, and June to October for excellent all-round wildlife viewing.
