Chumbe Island is a truly unique and unforgettable destination, located just 8 km southwest of Stone Town. This pristine island is surrounded by one of the best-preserved shallow coral reefs along the East African coast, home to over 200 species of coral and more than 400 species of tropical fish.

During your visit, you’ll enjoy guided snorkeling and reef walks led by trained park rangers in one of the world’s most beautiful coral gardens. On land, explore the Chumbe Forest Reserve, which protects rare and endangered species, including the elusive Ader’s Duiker, a wide variety of birds, crabs, reptiles, non-poisonous snakes, lizards, and the rare nocturnal Coconut Crab.

You’ll also have the chance to explore the historic lighthouse, built in 1904, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the island and Zanzibar. Throughout the day, you’ll experience the warm and knowledgeable hospitality of the Chumbe team, making this one of Zanzibar’s true must-do experiences. After your marine activities, a delicious buffet lunch with dessert will be served. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax on the beach, visit the education center, or join a guided nature trail walk.
