Tour Plan

Masingini Forest, located near Zanzibar Town in the western district of Unguja, is a significant natural reserve that showcases the island's biodiversity. This expansive reserve, established in the 1950s, spans 566 hectares at about 120 meters above sea level and is known for its unique landscape of over 35 gorges, aptly deriving its name from the Swahili term for gullies. Masingini plays a vital role in Zanzibar's water supply due to its deep groundwater reserves, supporting a rich ecosystem with over 179 plant species, including endemic varieties used for medicinal purposes.

The forest is home to endangered Zanzibar red colobus monkeys, renowned for their unique dietary habits, along with other species like Sykes and Vervet monkeys, blue duikers, and various smaller animals, including reptiles and insects. This lush habitat is vital for both the conservation of wildlife and the protection of crucial water sources, making Masingini Forest Nature Reserve a remarkable destination for nature enthusiasts.

After exploring Masingini Forest, we continue our journey to Zanzibar’s famous Spice Farm, where an aromatic and truly unforgettable experience awaits.

Your day is not complete without a visit to Zanzibar’s famous spice heritage, which dates back to the 16th century when cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper became crucial commodities in global trade. Located just outside Zanzibar Town, the spice farms offer guests the chance to explore lush plantations and learn about a variety of spices, including cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.

During a guided walk through the farm, visitors can see how these spices are grown, harvested, and prepared, while also having the opportunity to touch, smell, and taste fresh spices. Guests can also enjoy tropical fruits straight from the trees, such as jackfruit and pineapple, accompanied by refreshing coconut juice.

Adding a playful twist to the experience, visitors can create palm-leaf accessories bracelets, rings, ties, or glasses making the visit both fun and memorable.

Optional Lunch

After the tour, you may choose to enjoy a delicious local lunch at the spice farm. The meal is freshly prepared using local ingredients and flavored with authentic Zanzibari spices. After lunch, our professional driver will safely transfer you back to your hotel
