Pungume Sandbank is one of the most beautiful hidden gems in the south of Zanzibar. Located near the peaceful fishing village of Kizimkazi, this natural sandbank emerges in the middle of the turquoise Indian Ocean during low tide, creating a quiet and scenic setting for relaxation.
Your day begins with a hotel pickup, where our professional driver and tour guide will meet you and transfer you to Kizimkazi. From there, your experience begins as you board a traditional local boat that will take you across the clear blue waters toward the stunning Pungume Sandbank.
Pungume Sandbank can be visited using two different types of boats. The option you choose usually depends on your budget and the type of experience you prefer.
This is a private trip using a VIP dhow, providing a comfortable and exclusive sailing experience. Enjoy the privacy of your own boat while relaxing and taking in the stunning ocean scenery.
Speed Boat Option
This is the faster and more comfortable way to reach Pungume Sandbank. The journey takes less time, allowing you to spend more time swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the sandbank. It is usually more expensive because the boat is faster and more private. Price depend on mainly the type of the boat.
Dhow Boat Option
A traditional wooden dhow offers a slower and more cultural experience. The trip takes longer than the speed boat, but it allows you to enjoy the ocean scenery and the traditional style of sailing used for generations along the Swahili coast. This option is generally more budget-friendly.
Both options will take you to the same beautiful sandbank. The difference in price depends mainly on the type of boat and the travel time, so you can choose the option that best fits your budget and preference.
